Not sure if there is a proper place to end it, or it's personal preference. I recommend lining your tile backsplash up with your upper cabinets. You can either finish it off with decorative tile trim, wood bracket or have the tile laid in a straight line to the counter. If you haven't selected your tile yet - I added a few options for you to consider.
